How Odd Is That?

Just today Dan Gilmor posted about the Mayor of San Jose being arrested/indicted, with a possibility of jail time.

And, get this, it seems he hasn't even resigned yet.

According to this Mercury News article, Ron Gonzales was arrested on felony counts involving allegations of misconduct in office related to the Norcal scandal. He maintains his innocence.

I don't know whether he is innocent or guilty, but IF he is guilty, it is good to hear that politicians are not exempt from the law.

Gilmor observes that Gonzales is almost done his turn, so the court case could theoretically stretch until he is out of office anyways. Gilmor also hints that, while maintaining a general reputation for clean operations, the Sillicon Valley may see more of this in the future.

Daylight Savings Time - Business Opportunity?

This kid apparently isn't joking. Just recently he's busted into the residental clock changing market.

I'll change your clocks for half his price or a cold beer. And no I will not do VCR clocks. If your VCR isn't flashing, you are already a step ahead of the game and don't need my help.

Spam Drug King Busted

A drugstore operator in Minnesota, who derived much of his profits from e-mail spam, has recently been indicted.

Apparently, Christopher William Smith conspired to threaten and intimidate a witness in his trial. An indictment alleges that Smith also said he intended to have the witness or the witness's family killed.

Smith built a fortune, consisting of a $1,000,000 house and luxary cars upon a business of illegally dispensing prescription drugs. While Smith himself likely did not send spam himself, it is said that much of his business' profits were derived from spamming.

There are a number of different articles covering this story, and they can be easily found by going to news.google.com and typing "Christopher William Smith".
