Vonnegut Novel Question
Kurt Vonnegut once wrote that in a story, "Every character should want something, even if it is only a glass of water."
My question, for those who have read Vonnegut's "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" is this: What did Elliot Rosewater want?

Bummer: I've never read that Vonnegut novel. I saw the title of your post, and got excited hoping to be able to discuss some Vonnegut. I really enjoy his writings, even though their horrible cynical.
Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse-Five are favorites.
I should get back into him.
And Timequake, I should have mentioned Timequake.
Goodstuff.
Too bad. Our Vonnegut reading has no overlap: I've only read God Bless You, Mr Rosewater. I also have Breakfast of Champions, which I haven't read yet.
Yes, the writings are cynical. I don't know what to call it, but there is a category of fiction which it fits well into (most of which was written between 1950 and 1980).
